The horses come from abusive or neglectful homes and must learn to trust people again. And they’re doing just that in a maximum-security prison. Their handler-inmates Troy, Bill and others are also undertaking their own brand of rehab.
“This is the best thing that has happened to me since I’ve been in prison,” says Troy.
