Oneida County emus test positive for equine encephalitis virus

RHINELANDER (WAOW) - Two emus have tested positive for the mosquito-borne equine encephalitis virus, which can be transmitted to humans, the Oneida County Health Department said Tuesday. Mosquitoes acquire the virus by feeding on infected birds.
