Help combat Colic. Take the survey here, now.
I took it for three important reasons:
1) One of our horses died from Colic July 2011.
2) Colic is the number one Horse Killer
3) Equine Guelph is one of the top Equine Research Schools in Canada & the U.S.
Now, it’s your turn to help.
I have a quarter horse that has coliced every year for the last ten years. She had surgery two years ago. Hers is a gas colic problem. After worming she is more apt to colic so I now make sure she is ridden the following day to eliminate gas. Also i do not worm her during the hot summer months. I would also hose her butt to help eliminate gas.
What I do now that seems to be the most helpful is only giving her Bermuda grass no pellets at all. I also give her a daily dose of slippery elm powered and fennel powder. Both are a gas preventative.
